AROMA AND USE
The main actors in the delicious fish spice mixture are our herbs, which underline the unmistakable taste of the fish: dill, parsley and lemongrass ensure freshness, while high-quality sea salt brings associations of rushing waves and a fine sea breeze into your kitchen. The composition of four of our most popular pepper varieties is also characteristic: black and white pepper meet the fruity green pepper and the slight sweetness of the pink pepper.

The fish seasoning harmonizes best with white fish, such as pangasius, halibut, cod, plaice or hake. These varieties are named for their light color and are very popular due to their low fat content. The possible preparation methods range from boiled and fried fish to fish soups and sauces.

Cooking tip for white fish: White fish is usually not at the top of favorites lists of food fish because its fine bones can be annoying when eating. However, this problem can be solved quickly: If you put the fish in a vinegar-lemon solution before cooking or baking, lime will be removed from the bones and they will lose their hardness. This method is also used for preservation and allows for longer storage in the refrigerator. Another solution is to cut into the fish: try to keep the distances between the cuts very small and only work on the flesh side, not the skin side! If you take these little things into account, you can enjoy the delicious white fish undisturbed.

The beauty of cooking is the joy of experimentation. Aromas and flavors are not tied to specific types of preparation, but can definitely benefit from them. Here are our favorite cooking ideas for fish seasoning!

You probably know it from your vacation on the Mediterranean or from the last summer party: grilled fish is a popular change from the classic grilled meat. However, you should only add the fish seasoning towards the end, otherwise the fine herbs in the mixture will burn quickly and lose their fresh notes. For optimal taste, you can even rub the fish after grilling and briefly wrap it in aluminum foil to pull it.

The same applies to the popular fried fish from the pan: it's best to season it last so that you can fully enjoy the variety of flavors. If you would like to serve your fish with a fragrant herb crust, you can add the fish seasoning to the breading and mix it with breadcrumbs as with fish Bordelaise.

The best way to flavor delicate cooked fish is with the flavor-intensive sauce.

WHICH FISH TASTES BEST?
The undisputed most popular food fish is the Alaska pollack. It accounts for around a third of German fish consumption and is used in numerous dishes as a low-fat but omega-3-rich main ingredient. In addition to herring and tuna, which are often used in salads or cold starters, coalfish (also known as pollock) has many fans. Its flavors harmonize perfectly with dill and parsley from our fish seasoning, for example in the Nordic style: with mustard sauce and root vegetables (e.g. carrots).
