Basil has a long tradition. It was already around 1000 BC. Cultivated as a spice and medicinal plant in India. The pharaohs also used the intense herb for seasoning and in ceremonies.
AROMA AND USE:
Our basil is characterized by its balanced aromas from sweet, warm to peppery, fresh. This Mediterranean classic is particularly popular in Italian and Greek cuisine. Crushed basil is an excellent spice to support the individual flavors, especially in sauces, soups and vegetable dishes. Basil should always be added towards the end of the cooking process so that the delicate aroma is retained.
ORIGIN:
Basil has its origins in ancient Egypt where it is still grown today due to the special climatic conditions. We source our basil from ecologically controlled cultivation in Egypt.
